From our friendly neighbourhood Uniting World buddies

A simple way your Church community or Youth Group can support the poverty relief efforts of UnitingWorld, the international aid agency of the Uniting Church in Australia.

Through church groups, youth groups or individuals holding an Everything in Common Gift Stall in the weeks leading up to Christmas, they can help people find meaningful gifts and in this way make a big difference for people living in poverty. UnitingWorld’s Everything in Common Gift Catalogue features a range of gifts that directly support the life-changing work of our partners overseas. From beehives that give families in Zimbabwe a helping hand to tree seedlings that young people in Tuvalu will plant to help communities adapt to Climate Change, there’s a gift for everyone!

Last year, thanks to the wonderful efforts of gift stall coordinators and the generosity of individuals, schools and churches, over $300,000 was raised to support the Uniting Church’s overseas partners as they respond to poverty and injustice. This year’s gift stall will include our top 12 gifts from the new Everything in Common gift catalogue.  New gifts include inclusive education for children with disabilities in Sri Lanka, dental care for remote communities in Vanuatu and seedlings for climate change adaptation programs in Tuvalu. Old favourites including chickens and beehives in Zimbabwe, training midwives in South Sudan and a school stationery pack for a child in Fiji.

If you are interested, we will send you everything you need and it’s then just a matter of displaying this on a table during an upcoming community event, Sunday at church or at any other time or place (some have set up a stall at their local shopping centre!).

Email me at fionaj@unitingworld.org.au to receive a kit to run a stall for your school community. Learn more about Everything in Common at www.everythingincommon.com.au  Feel free to share this email widely.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Fiona
